In a world increasingly dominated by GMO crops, the need for collective action has never been more urgent. From Mexico to the European Union, the resistance against GMOs is gaining momentum, as seen in the joint declaration in defense of biodiversity, seed, and food freedom by Navdanya International, and various NGOs rallying against GMO deregulation in Europe.

The imposition of GMO crops globally has been linked to increased hunger, disease, malnutrition, and biodiversity decline. In Mexico, a beacon of maize biodiversity, the community’s efforts led to a ban on GM maize through legal action against major biotech firms. This is a striking example of how grassroots movements can influence policy and protect cultural and agricultural heritage.

In Europe, concerns are mounting over the deregulation of New Genomic Techniques (NGTs) – a new wave of GMOs. This deregulation could bypass critical biosafety regulations, potentially unleashing untested and unlabeled GMOs into our food systems. Organizations like ENGA and grassroots movements have been vocal in their opposition, emphasizing the need for stringent regulation and the labeling of GMO foods.

Now, it’s our turn to take a stand. We, at Pax Natura Foundation, understand the importance of protecting our ecological diversity and ensuring food security for all. We invite you to join us in this global movement against GMO imperialism, which threatens the very fabric of our natural and cultural biodiversity.

Here’s what you can do:

  1. Educate Yourself and Others: Knowledge is power. Stay informed about the impact of GMOs on our health, environment, and farming communities.
  2. Support Local and Organic: Choose local, organic, and non-GMO products. Your buying decisions can drive change in the market.
  3. Engage with Policymakers: Voice your concerns to local and national policymakers. Advocate for strict GMO regulations and the right to know what’s in your food.
  4. Spread the Word: Use your voice on social media and in your community to raise awareness about the risks associated with GMOs and the importance of biodiversity.
  5. Join the Declaration: Show your solidarity by signing declarations and petitions that support biodiversity, seed freedom, and the fight against GMOs.

Together, we can make a difference. Let’s stand united for a healthier, more sustainable world. For more information, visit Navdanya International and ENGA.

This post is inspired by the actual initiatives and actions taken by organizations and communities against the spread and deregulation of GMOs. It aligns with Pax Natura Foundation’s ethos of ecological preservation and sustainable living.
